Favorite Sunset Filters – 64x ND Filters Explained

An ND filter (neutral density), sometimes also called a gray filter, is a landscape photography filter that allows you to set any shutter speed in any light. It lets less light through the lens and is comparable to strong sunglasses. This way you can, for example, make water look smooth or clouds blur.

That depends on what you want to do. Basically, ND filters differ mainly in the degree of darkening. We have filters in 3 different strengths: 8x, 64x and 1000x. The number indicates the factor by which the shutter speed is extended. With a 64x filter, for example, your shutter speed will be 64x longer. 1 second exposure time without a filter becomes 64 seconds with a 64x ND filter.

We also offer two different ND filter systems. The #jaworskyj magnetic filter and the 100x100mm plug-in filter system . Both systems are compatible with each other.

The magnetic ND filters are very easy to use. All you need is a magnetic adapter ring in the right size (the diameter of the adapter ring must match that of your lens) and the magnetic ND filter in the strength of your choice or as a set with all strengths.

Simply screw the magnetic adapter ring onto your lens and the magnetic ND filter will be attached to it using a magnet.

The advantage of this system is its ease of use and the relatively low price of the accessories.

If you want a graduated filter later, then invest directly in the plug-in ND filters. These are available in the size 100x100mm regardless of the diameter of your lens. You can simply attach them to your lens using the same filter holder as the graduated filter later and the appropriate adapter ring. The strength of the filters is identical for both systems.
